Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Inspector to oversee and inspect bridge/culvert construction activities for a project in both Dolgeville and Starkville, NY (Herkimer County). This position is responsible for ensuring work is performed in compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on field experience and be capable of managing contractor activities, documentation, and reporting from project start through closeout.

What you'll be able to do:

Construction Oversight:

• Serve as the on-site Senior Inspector for bridge/culvert construction activities.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.
• Conduct daily field inspections and document site activities and progress.
• Identify and report any construction issues, non-conformance, or safety concerns.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and agency representatives to support project continuity.
• Promote and enforce safety practices in accordance with OSHA and project-specific standards.

Project Administration:

• Maintain detailed daily reports covering site conditions, labor and equipment usage, and progress.
• Track quantities and assist with preparation of contractor payment estimates.
• Use appropriate project documentation systems to track field activities.
• Coordinate materials testing and verification of construction tolerances and procedures.
• Communicate regularly with the EIC and client representatives on project status and key developments.

The minimum requirements we seek:

• NICET Level III certification in Transportation/Highway Construction or equivalent experience (required)
• At least 10 years of relevant field experience in bridge or roadway construction inspection
• Familiarity with NYSDOT standards and construction documentation procedures
• Proficiency using NYSDOT Site Manager
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to and between project locations in Herkimer County
