You will serve our guests at the restaurant by ensuring they are seated promptly, their orders are taken, prepared, and served on time, and that tables are cleaned and ready for the next guests. Responsibilities:

• Accept correct payment from guests and guarantee the accuracy of the guest check and manner of payment to protect both the client and the business from any transaction mistakes
• Welcome customers upon arrival and promptly seat them, take food and beverage orders from diners, serve meals, and meet any special requirements or requests
• Attend all pre-shift and departmental meetings to improve communications and develop an understanding of products, services, and facilities
• Maintain complete knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and daily specials to answer client queries and provide recommendations
• Perform all restocking and cleaning activities as directed, including opening and closing duties
• Greet guests warmly, politely, and in a timely manner once seated. Speak to guests with enthusiasm at all times
• Be prepared to answer questions about menu items and food preparation techniques and be prepared to make suggestions about special menu items. Take advantage of opportunities to up-sell additional food and beverage items where appropriate
• Answer questions from patrons about beverages and beverage service. Understand regulatory responsibilities regarding the service of alcoholic beverages
• Understand order-taking systems to be able to clearly, accurately, and quickly covey guest orders to the kitchen
• Deliver food and beverage to tables in an efficient manner following appropriate table service techniques. Ensure that food is presented to diners as ordered and according to restaurant quality standards

Qualifications:

• Must have a strong focus on putting the guest first with exceptional customer service experience
• Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers
• Outstanding time management and organizational skills
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent certification (GED)
• Prior food service industry experience is highly desired
• Must be eligible to work in the United States of America

About Company: The Hotel Salem is a vibrant and one-of-a-kind accommodation on the North Shore of Boston. This 44-room boutique Salem hotel is in the middle of the action on the bustling Essex Street pedestrian mall in the city center. It is home to two restaurants: The Roof, Salem's only open-air rooftop dining experience serving creative Mexican cuisine, and Counter, inspired by the lunch counters of mid-century department stores, serving a variety of sandwiches, burgers, and pizza.
